Easier to run trials across borders. Easier for companies to grow. Easier for patients to benefit. The case for Europe acting like one market.

The European Biotech Act is one of the files I will spend a great deal of time on in the coming months. I am negotiating it on behalf of Renew Europe in the European Parliament’s Public Health Committee, and for me the starting point is simple. Europe must remain a place where biotechnology is invented, developed, manufactured and used. This is the foundation of ensuring that our patients have access to life-saving medicines, today and in the future.
Europe already has many of the ingredients. We have excellent research institutions, talented scientists and strong biotech companies. But we are still not good enough at turning research into products that reach patients. Too much innovation, investment and manufacturing still move elsewhere. The Biotech Act is a unique opportunity to address that. We have one shot to get this right!
